Festivals...

I have been catching up on some of the Glastonbury coverage this week and am sad to not to have been there. I love festivals as they offer the perfect blend of relaxation and of course music!! When at festivals you can get up, chat with friends and then spend time in likewise company, appreciating great music and discovering bands you never knew about.I would love to attend Coachella festival sometime in the future!!

I've seen bands from The Red Hot Chillie Peppers to Lightspeed Champion. Some of my highlights have been The Killers headlining, Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band, The Wombats, The Shins and Razorlight. There is nothing like a field full of people all singing together. I watched U2 on tv the other night and was impressed. I'm not a huge fan of theirs but appreciated their set. Last night was the turn of one of my favourite bands to headline: Coldplay. I saw them live a few years back and they are amazing!! If you ever get the change to see them- go! You wont regret it.

Have you been to a music festival or would you like to?

I'm gonna share some of my favourite Coldplay songs now:

Yellow

Fix You - Brilliant live but quite emotional

Warning Sign

Violet Hill

Happy Birthday to me...

Today is the day that as you get older, starts to get less and less fun...it's my birthday. It's possibly the only day which I become less fond of as the years go by. Christmas, Halloween, Pancake Day and all other special occasions may lose some shine but nothing like birthdays.

Don't get me wrong, I love how birthdays bring family and friends together but at some point in the lead up or days past, thoughts of how much you have achieved, people who are no longer in your life and other such thoughts pass. This isn't negative per se just thought provoking. After New Year, I think birthdays are another day which make you evaluate your life. Are you where you want to be? Are you proud of what you've done in you life so far? Are their dreams you need to start pursuing?

When I think back to New Year and starting this blog I had lots of thoughts which ranged from confusion to disappointment and I wasn't quite sure where I was actually going with this blog. Now I', half way through the year and still blogging I am pleased I started. Through this I have gained some very good friends who last birthday I didn't know. You meet a lot of people through blogging but there are some who you meet and just instantly click with. It's crazy as you just know if you were in the same real world place as these people you'd be great friends.

On this birthday I've asked myself lots of questions and maybe I will share the answers at some point but for now they're my thoughts. I am just going to enjoy celebrating what I have achieved so far in my 26 years with the great people I have around me when things are good AND bad!!These are the things which help me to my birthday and keep me the very somewhat sane person which I am!!

Soulmates...

The subject of soul mates is a popular one and many people have had their say about them. Plato believed that all people were born with four arms, four legs, and a single head made of two faces, but the powerful Zeus feared their power and split them all in half, therefore making them spend their lives searching for their other half to complete themselves.

When I was on holiday I went to see a tarot reader. She was very insightful and talked about a variety of subjects. She was talking about my love life and different factors around it and began to talk about soul mates. She said she believed that everyone has two soul mates:

1- The one we have a connection with in a spirit way.

2- The one which we settle down with and have kids and a life with etc.

There's always been this notion of 'There is one person for everyone' and I think this will always be around. However, I very much disagree with this.

As I have talked about here before, we meet people throughout our lives who make an impact on us. Maybe these people are fleeting soul mates? What about friends- are they not soul mates? Surely soul mates can't simply be defined as the person you settle down with. That in my eyes is one of the loves of your life, again this could change. We all grow older (unfortunately) and change and have different aspirations. This can affect who we spend our time with. If you're lucky you will meet a person who will have the same aspirations as yourself or at least someone who backs you up and wants you to achieve your dreams without feeling this would make them look inferior.

Personally I believe that we have soul mates, not just in love but also in friendships. Sometimes you meet someone who just 'gets you'. I really don't know how else to put it. The person understands you, questions you, makes you laugh, be more positive and above all else happy. These qualities are qualities of all friends but a soul mate friend just has that extra bit which I can't describe. I suppose it's one of those you will know it when you find it kinda things.

In love, soul mates are people which everyone aspires to find because if you meet your soul mate you will never be alone again. You will be on a journey with someone who is everything a friend soul mate is and more. The idea of that is just wonderful and the people who give up on finding this and 'settle' make me feel sad because they don't know what they're missing. Or maybe they do but don't think they can ever get it or deserve it?

When looking up ideas and thoughts about soul mates I came across this:

I like this idea but I disagree with the thought that you can't live with your soul mate. Yes some may come and go but some will still and that is very special. In the idea of relationships, yes they can be painful but sometimes the pain is what's needed in order to reach a certain place.

I like the thought that a soul mate is a person who compliments you and grounds you in a way that no other can. A soul mate is the person who truly knows you and loves everything about you and this can be found in friendships and love relationships. If there is one thing I am sure of, it is that there are more than one type of soul mate for everyone.

What are your thoughts on soul mates?

Race day...

To celebrate turning another year older next week, Miss Twin and our friends went to the races. This has become somewhat of a tradition over the past few years. We all get dressed up, have drinks (before mid-day woo!) and a few bets on the races. I must say, I do get a bit carried away. Miss GG would be able to explain my gambling, she visited Vegas with me haha!! After the day is over we then all troop into town for food, drinks and dancing. It's such a fun day and made even better by having my friends all around me. It makes getting older easier when I realise how fabulous they are.

It was so fun to see all the girls dressed up and the guys all looking smart in their suits. The day itself flew by from the first race. As there is only half an hour between each race you're constantly on the go trying to collect winnings, place another bet, get a drink or stand in incredibly long lines for the loo!! I managed to win on a few races throughout the day which was fun but my accumulators were a no go!! All in all the day was great AND it didn't rain! How lucky?!

Hope you're all having a fabulous weekend!!

Traumatic drive...

I was off to the hairdressers this evening after school and was just coming off a roundabout when my foot felt tickly. So I shook it, then it continued and as I glanced down I saw there was ...... A SPIDER!!! This spider was crawling over my foot! Arrghhh!!! Needless to say I did not act the most calmly, in fact I screamed, swerved and then continued to drive slightly erratic till I could pull over. I even tried to drive without letting my foot touch the ground but that is difficult when you have accelerator, brake and clutch. The white van behind which had been driving far too close dropped way back. I think that was for the best.

I am a bit sad since I have always considered my car a safe haven as I've never had a spider in it before. I have managed to get over my trauma and hopefully I wont have any more surprises at 60mph!!

Have you ever had a nasty surprise while driving?

I have also had a guest post featured over at TexaGerma(Finla)Nadien today. I love this blog, she's hilarious and we both have a love for £1 crap!! haha!!
