'It'd be nice if you could pull me into town...'

This week has been (dare I say it) a relatively good week for me. After my temper tantrum Saturday and a relaxed Sunday I have been trying to focus on my calmness and the acceptance that each day may not be easy. I felt a lot of anxiety on Monday and sat writing down my 'anxieties' while I had breakfast which worked well - it was as if that helped me to 'let go'. Maybe now is the time I am ready to begin thinking more toward CBT? It's too early to say, all I can say is that I have had a number of happy moments this week and I have had drive.

I came across a few things on Pinterest which I have looked at in mornings to cheer me and which make me laugh. Now it has been years since I have watched Napoleon Dynamite but I cam across some movie stills and quotes which have just cheered me up no end today so I wanted to share them with you all and put a smile on your face!

I left my heart in New York City...

It's me :-) I am back to the world of blogging. I arrived home yesterday and feel ill today. Typical!! Obviously I am better suited in NYC!I have missed catching up with you all so I am sure I will have a good nose around later!

What can I say... NYC was just amazing as ever. Do you have somewhere you love to visit and where you get there you just feel at home. Like you were made to be there? That's how I feel in NYC. The holiday itself has possibly been one of my most crazy and surreal holidays ever!

To help explain, I thought the easiest thing would be to bullet point some of my adventure:

- Being asked to do a mini fashion shoot at a fashion week show.

- A night of free drinks and after work drinks with bartenders - he was very cute ;-)

- Making friends with Flyers fans who then gave their Flyers t-shirt to my friend after explaining to some guy that he'd converted her to a Flyers fan for life (Since they beat the Rangers). This guy then gave him $20 to give his shirt away. It was possibly the funniest thing I'd seen!! 

- Shots of Jameson and getting my stomach signed by boys in bands and then signing theirs.

-Miss Faux Fur getting her head a bit messed up by one of the boys in band.

- Breakfast at 5am with said boys.

- Crazy photos in Plaza...classy I know ;)

- Getting subway out of Brooklyn, getting out of subway and after 5 minutes realising that we were still in Brooklyn.

-Being stalked around Top of the Rock by a security guard who then proceded to try and get in our photos and take photos with us. Very bizarre!

-Visiting a psychic who read my tarot and said: I was still not over a relationship from last year which had no closure but he would give it to me and not to worry about it, I had lots of work op's in March April and could see a move on the horizon for me. There was a lot more detail but I will say she was pretty accurate!

- I was on TV on MSG as the fist pumping block - woo!!

That is a bit of a run down of my crazy time. Needless to say I am pretty gutted to be back. I am now going to share a few photos from my time there. Hope you enjoy :-)

The look of the holiday..."It wasn't meant to happen..."

What made me laugh the most was...

 

This was something which I was thinking about this morning while painting my face to look more awake at work! After reading a discussion about what makes you happy on 20 Something Bloggers website, it really stuck in my mind. I was able to come up with 2 things which really made me laugh  in the past month. Now I’m not talking about a little giggle, a short laugh which leaves you feeling elated...no...I’m talking about the type of laugh which flaws you, makes your mascara make a break for it down your face and leaves you unable to speak.

Smile!!!

My first was when I was playing a game of Trivial Pursuit with my sister over Christmas and I mis heard a question and came up with the most ridiculous answer which was just impossible. I started to laugh and literally went on for like 5 minutes! I was at the point of tears with laughter for something which was nothing really.

My second was when I was looking at a friend’s photo on Facebook. Two people were in the foreground in the snow and he was in the background walking up a hill with his sledge towards the camera. One person had commented how he looked like a borrower and then I was gone. Again, the crazy laughter. 

When I was at work today, I decided to get the kids to finish: “What made me laugh the most was...” and they came up with some answers only kids could:

“When my Dad started crying cause I beat him 6-0 on Fifa 11.”

“When I had something in my hand and I didn’t know.”

“These names: tricky lickey, chicken little, zirke lirke.” (How cute?! Lol!)

And my personal favourite was whispered to me as the boy thought it was too rude:

“Your eyes are so attractive; they look like wee holes in the snow.”

Hahaha! Now if you’re not familiar with some British phrases then you may not find that as funny as me. Basically, when someone is extremely drunk, people may describe them as having “eyes like piss holes in the snow”. He said his Dad had said this and he thought it was funny!

You’re probably thinking, well neither of the moments I spoke about sound that funny let alone being 'making you cry funny' but you just had to be there. This made me realise that sometimes these moments come from nowhere and are unplanned. When I thought back to both times, I realised that on both occasions I was feeling a little low and worn out. This made me wonder if these moments are sent to make you, in that moment of tiredness, sadness etc pull you back from the brink and make you smile through your tears. As the classic song says: “Smile and maybe tomorrow, you'll see the sun come shining through for you.” Nat King Cole.
